Rocks & Minerals - Beryls

_________________________________________

Beryl is a mineral composed of beryllium, aluminum, cyclosilicate with chemical formular Be3Al2 (Sio3)6.  Pure beryl (referred to as Goshenite .. named after where it originates in Goshen, MA) is colorless, as most Beryls are tinted by impurities to make them green, blue, yellow, red and white.   Beryl is hexagonal dihexagonal dipyramidal with a 7.5-8 Mohs scale hardness.  Other stones in the Beryl family are Morganite and Heliodor.

Below is our Beryl collection from New Hampshire (unless noted otherwise).   Beryl is New Hampshire's state mineral.  Most of our collection is not of gem quality, but very nice addition for a collector and metaphysical practitioner.   We have also included some golden beryl, and have added our aquamarine var. beryl to this offering.

We have very few emerald, also the beryl family, which contain traces of chromium and sometimes vanadium.

We dedicated this page to our old friend, 'Beryl'.  She has passed but was certainly a gem of a lady.

Trivia:   Did you know?

Beryl rings where worn by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Ruebens and Benvenuto Cellini!   In ancient Roman times, beryl was used to treat liver and eye diseases, and they believed it promoted matrimonial love. Fortune tellers say that beryl helps in disputes and makes the wearer invincible, but not aggressive.  Our pieces are small enough for some interesting jewelry work!
